Congratulations! If you're moving to the La Quinta area or considering it, you've found a great community to call home.

A Paradise in the Desert
The City of La Quinta is a community nestled at the base of the majestic Santa Rosa Mountains, just 30 minutes from Palm Springs, in southern California's Coachella Valley. With its small-town friendliness, La Quinta is a peaceful and relaxing community. However, it is also a year-round, multi-recreational and destination resort community. Known as the "Gem of the Desert," La Quinta enjoys low humidity combined with an abundance of sunshine year-round.

Attractions
There are varied attractions to the Desert Communities such as Hot Air Ballooning, Jeep Tours, Celebrity Bus Tours, Tram Rides, Art Museums, a Children's Museum, IMAX Theatres, a Waterpark, Bicycle Tours, as well as many sports activities to participate in and to watch. There's lots to do, in addition to just relaxing and enjoying the picture perfect weather. It's no wonder that the Desert attracts so many people from around the world.

The Perfect Climate
The beautiful near-perfect desert climate offers a year-round respite to visitors from around the world. With only 15-20 days of rainfall per year averaging a total of 5.78 inches, dry air and low humidity, there is fun in the sun by day and balmy desert evenings to enjoy to the fullest. From fall through late spring, days are warm and nights are cool. Summer days are hotter, but clean, dry air makes the higher temperature feel comfortable. Dress is California Casual, from cutoffs and thongs to designer sportswear by day and the whole fashion spectrum by night. Some restaurants require jackets for gentlemen, check when making a reservation. A cover-up and sun lotion are essential by the pool and a light wrap at night is a must. Temperatures are 30-40 degrees lower at the top of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway and the Alpine community of Idyllwild, so dress accordingly.

Having such an ideal climate, the area is perfect for sports throughout the year.
